Jobs. At our first meeting with our craftswomen we were distressed learning about the multiple part-time jobs that our craftswomen had to take in order to cover their family expenses. Additionally, none of those jobs were in producing wool accessories, where their talent and enjoyment rested. We change that by providing one single job to each of our craftswomen through which they can go beyond covering their expenses but learning to open a bank account, saving, and further plan for their financial stability and that of their families.

Capacity Training. We are also invested in seeing our craftswomen grow both professionally and personally. Through our empowerment model we go on to give them the tools required for their work as well as a practical education on business fundamentals, healthcare, and leadership. Our early efforts allowed the leader of our craftswomen to be awarded with a Bolivian entrepreneurship award, recognizing her as one the best entrepreneurs of the competition. Our efforts, along with the desire of our craftswomen to grow are working.

Education and Growth. To bring sustainable growth through our model we also need to teach them how to be leaders in their communities. The third part of our model is focused in developing local leaders, that can then spur greater change organically and with the minimum external help.
